President Trump's strategy of delaying legal proceedings is proving advantageous for his own cases, but many of his supporters are facing severe consequences from civil and criminal cases, Axios reports. Lawyers who supported Trump and were involved in schemes to overturn the 2020 presidential election have been subjected to sanctions and censure. Rudy Giuliani's involvement in these efforts could result in his being disbarred. In at least four of the seven swing states expected to determine the outcome of the 2024 presidential election, legal actions against fake pro-Trump electors are ongoing.
In Arizona, a group of 11 pro-Trump electors were indicted last Wednesday. Seven other people were unnamed defendants. In Georgia, Trump is the star defendant in the Fulton County indictment of 15 people. The trial is scheduled to begin in August. During pretrial hearings on Wednesday, Trump was also identified as an un-indicted co-conspirator in a Michigan state case against 16 fake electors charged in July 2023. Six people were indicted in December — including the Nevada GOP chair — for being fake electors. A trial won't begin before 2025. Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul won't say whether his office is investigating the 10 pro-Trump fake electors from 2020.
