Hunter Biden Found Guilty In Delaware Federal Gun Case

President Biden’s son Hunter was convicted Tuesday of lying on gun-purchasing paperwork and unlawfully possessing a gun. Hunter Biden had been accused of making two false statements in filling out paperwork to purchase the weapon by claiming he was not addicted to or using illegal drugs. He was also accused of unlawfully possessing the gun for 11 days as a drug user, the Washington Post reports. A jury convicted him after a week-long federal trial in Delaware that included wrenching testimony from current and former family members about his struggles with addiction. The verdict will be a disappointment to Eric Blandford, a popular conservative YouTube personality known as Iraqveteran8888. Blandford, whose 2.7 million subscribers watch him shoot guns and shoot-the-breeze about politics, is no fan of President Biden or his son. Blandford tells the Wall Street Journal he believes that the law used to prosecute Hunter Biden that forbids illicit drug users from owning firearms is unconstitutional. “It’s easy to say, ‘Well, screw Biden and we should throw the book at him,’” said Blandford, who is the Georgia state director for Gun Owners of America. “Well if they throw the book at the prince in every little way that they can, what are they going to do to you?”

Prominent gun rights advocates are now rallying around Hunter Biden. Though they view his father as one of the biggest threats to the Second Amendment, they are standing behind his son on principle. “Hunter Biden is innocent,” said CJ Grisham, a Texas attorney and leader in the movement to carry guns in public. “I think Hunter Biden is a despicable person and I definitely don’t believe in his politics but the fact of the matter is he is charged with a bogus crime.” Grisham and Blandford are getting strong pushback in conservative circles for their views on the case. “Of course, people are going to say, ‘Why do you support Hunter Biden? He’s the enemy,’” Blandford said.  Other gun groups have taken a more partisan view. The National Rifle Association has cheered Biden’s prosecution.
