Four Philadelphia suspects are facing charges that include conspiracy, robbery and theft of government money after making off with $234,500 of dimes from a parked semi-truck coming from the U.S. Mint carrying a quarter-million in dimes, The Guardian Reports:.
Surveillance video showed coins spilled across a parking lot in northeast Philadelphia. Four suspects – Rakiem Savage, 25, Ronald Byrd, 31, Haneef Palmer, 30, and Malik Palmer, 32, were detained after making several attempts to redeem the dimes for more convenient denominations at four banks and various coin machines across Pennsylvania and Maryland.
