Iowa Nightclub Shooting Leaves Two Dead, 10 Injured

Crime and Justice News

A shooting inside a Cedar Rapids, Ia., nightclub on Sunday left a man and a woman dead, reports the Associated Press. Police Chief Wayne Jerman said police believe two men fired over a dozen shots inside the nightclub just before 1:30 a.m. Officers were outside after an earlier incident and were able to respond quickly to help the victims. Authorities say that the gunman likely escaped with the crowd.

The club's owner is cooperating with police to find the suspect. Jerman said that its likely one of the victims was targeted. He said, “This is another mindless and senseless gun-related incident involving a reckless disregard for human life. I remain livid and angered at the continued and blatant disregard and lack of respect for human life that continues. That said, I want to reassure the residents of this city that Cedar Rapids is a safe city.”
