Unanswered questions persist following the fatal shooting of a woman by Fort Lee police in an apartment building amidst a reported mental health crisis early Sunday, North Jersey reports. The incident left residents of The Pinnacle, the site of the occurrence, in a state of shock. The state Attorney General's Office, which is investigating the police shooting, has yet to reveal the identity of the woman and residents that reporters spoke with also did not know the woman. Yet residents wanted to know more about this incident, as the nation reels from the death of Sonya Massey in Illinois, who was shot by a deputy in her kitchen.
Longtime resident Jason Concepcion said he was coming home from celebrating his birthday when he saw a mass of police cars surrounding the building as he arrived home. On the seventh floor at The Pinnacle, there was a hole in a wall right across from the elevator. The carpet in front of apartment 704 was removed revealing the wooden floor underneath. No residents on the seventh floor answered their doors. Other residents expressed concerns over their safety, mental health issues and police use of force after Sunday's shooting.
