President Biden's lawyers urged Attorney General Merrick Garland in to note their concerns about special counsel Robert Hur's report that describes Biden as a man with "poor memory," reports Axios. The lawyers said that Hur's criticism amounted to "inappropriate prosecutor criticism of uncharged conduct." The language was used in Hur's report concluding that Biden should not be charged criminally over his handling of classified documents.
Hur is expected to testify before the House Judiciary Committee on March 12. Biden's lawyers accused Hur of breaking Justice Department norms by going public with his findings instead of writing a confidential report, according to letters reported by Politico, the Washington Post and the New York Times. Hur's reply to Biden's lawyers said that the language used in the report "is offered to explain Special Counsel Hur's conclusions about the President's state of mind in possessing and retaining classified information."
